Leonard House

Built on the side of MacAlister Range, with a natural reserve to the rear, ‘Leonard House’ is home to a young couple and their two dogs, Bella and Max.

Their home is grounded in the steep slope, allowing car access to the site. The driveway is the first of the vertical transitions through the home, the following being through the central axis of the house.

The house is split over multiple levels, to work with the terrain of the site. The terracing minimizes the disturbance to the site and creates degrees of privacy between levels.

A large open plan living / dining / kitchen / deck area is where most of the ‘living’ takes place. With raking ceilings, large doors and windows, and polished concrete floors, the space is perfect for entertaining, or quietly enjoying the distant views of the ocean.
