Freshwater SS Undercroft

In the spirit of a junior school, the ‘Freshwater State School Undercroft Extension’ integrates structure and colour into the design. Seating areas become miniature hills to roll down, columns become structures for signage and obstacles for tiggy.

The tiered roofs cleverly provide infill shelter, turning an ‘in-between’ space into a destination space. Connected walkways are designed to reinforce the natural foot flow of the students, directing bodies round outdoor learning spaces.

Ecologically, the structure provides tiered shelter while allowing the space to vent and breathe.
